TROPIC OF CAPRICORN (HUACALERA)
This town known by the Monolith of the Tropic of Capricorn: It is located along the National Route Number 9, 100 kilometers north of San Salvador de Jujuy, erected there in memory of the patriots who fought in the struggle for the independence of the Spanish crown between 1810 and 1825.
This monolith has a clock that marks the passage of the Tropic of Capricorn by the province of Jujuy.
PUCARÁ DE TILCARA
The Pucará de Tilcara is a fortress built by the tilcaras, a bias of the omaguacas, in a strategic point on the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Strategically located at 2500 meters high, right in the center of the Humahuaca Gorge.
PUCARA DE JUELLA
Around the year 1000 there existed a line of twenty-two aboriginal fortresses that were unfolded on the hills throughout the Quebrada de Humahuaca. One of the most interesting to know is the pucará of Juella, an archaeological site that has not been altered by any restoration. Located 15 kilometers from Tilcara, you can only arrive with a guided tour on horseback or on foot.
SQUARE ALVAREZ PRADO
One of the oldest recreational spaces in the town. In its center a circular structure constructed with stones like a terrace of a height of approximately 50 centimeters. On it, people rest on large benches made of wood and cement. Wooden poles with old colonial lanterns bring light to this picturesque space. Surrounded by tall and ancient trees, flower beds decorated with shrubs and native plants. Green tones predominate.
